Arms will do more single target DPS in BIS gear or close to it, Fury will almost always come out on top in terms of DPS on AOE mobs especially in extended duration fights. Arms is much more burst damage oriented where as Fury has better sustained DPS. Fury is a much easier spec to gain a handle of. Arms takes practice and is much less forgiving.

2. Warrior Raid Buffs

Battle Shout: If there is no paladin in the party giving Blessing of Might, your job is to keep this up at all times.
Increases nearby party members' attack power by X for 2/3 minutes. Need to have 10 Rage to use.

Demorializing Shout: One warrior should be keeping this debuff on all targets that do melee damage. Extremely important on progression fights.
Reduces the attack power of all nearby enemies by X.

Commanding Shout: Should be kept up in raids if no other warrior can grant the buff. Increases maximum health of all party and raid members within 30 yards by 2255. Lasts 2 minutes.

4. Key Warrior Abilities

Bloodrage: Generates 20 rage at the cost of health, and then generates an additional 10 rage over 10 seconds.

Enraged Regeneration: You regenerate 30% of your total health over 10 seconds. This ability requires an Enrage effect, consumes all Enrage effects and prevents any from affecting you for the full duration. (3 min Cooldown)

Berserker Rage: The warrior enters a berserker rage, removing and granting immunity to Fear, Sap and Incapacitate effects and generating extra rage when taking damage. Lasts 10 seconds.

Bladestorm: Instantly Whirlwind nearby targets and for the next 6 seconds you will perform a whirlwind attack every 1 sec. While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but cannot perform any other abilities but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed.

Shattering Throw: Throws your weapon at the enemy causing [12+$AP*.50] damage (based on attack power), reducing the armor on the target by 20% for 10 seconds or removing any invulnerabilities. (5 min Cooldown)

Victory Rush: Instantly attack the target causing [$AP*0.45] damage. Can only be used within 20 seconds after you kill an enemy that yields experience or honor. Damage is based on your attack power. (More appropriate for soloing, more applicable for Fury than Arms.)

4.1 Arms Specific Abilities:

Rend: Wounds the target causing them to bleed for 380 damage plus an additional (based on weapon damage) over 15 seconds. If used while your target is above 75% health, Rend does 35% more damage.

Overpower: Instantly overpower the enemy, causing weapon damage. Only useable after the target dodges. The Overpower cannot be blocked, dodged or parried. (Refer to Taste for Blood Arms talent)

Mortal Strike: A vicious strike that deals weapon damage plus 380 and wounds the target, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 50% for 10 seconds.

Execute (Sudden Death): Attempt to finish off a wounded foe, causing [1456+AP*0.2] damage and converting each extra point of rage into 38.0 additional damage (up to a maximum cost of 30 rage). Only usable on enemies that have less than 20% health (without sudden death procs).

Slam: Slams the opponent, causing weapon damage plus 250.

Heroic Strike: A strong attack that increases melee damage by 495 and causes a high amount of threat. Causes 173.25 additional damage against Dazed targets.

4.2 Fury Specific Abilities:

Bloodthirst: Instantly attack the target causing [$AP*0.5] damage. In addition, the next successful melee attacks will restore 1% of max health. This effect lasts 8 seconds. Damage is based on your attack power.

Whirlwind: In a whirlwind of steel you attack up to 4 enemies within 8 yards, causing weapon damage from both melee weapons to each enemy.

Slam: Slams the opponent, causing weapon damage plus 250.

Heroic Strike: A strong attack that increases melee damage by 495 and causes a high amount of threat. Causes 173.25 additional damage against Dazed targets.

Death Wish: When activated you become enraged, increasing your physical damage by 20% but increasing all damage taken by 5%. Lasts 30 seconds. (3 min Cooldown)

Recklessness: Your next 3 special ability attacks have an additional 100% to critically hit but all damage taken is increased by 20%. Lasts 12 seconds. (5 min Cooldown)

4.3 AOE Specific abilities:

Cleave: A sweeping attack that does your weapon damage plus 222 to the target and his nearest ally.

Thunder Clap: Blasts nearby enemies increasing the time between their attacks by 10% for 30 seconds and doing 300 damage to them. Damage increased by attack power. This ability causes additional threat.

Whirlwind: In a whirlwind of steel you attack up to 4 enemies within 8 yards, causing weapon damage from both melee weapons to each enemy. (Fury Specific)

Sweeping Strikes: Your next 5 melee attacks strike an additional nearby opponent. 30 second duration (Arms Tree).

Bladestorm: Instantly Whirlwind nearby targets and for the next 6 seconds you will perform a whirlwind attack every 1 sec. While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but cannot perform any other abilities but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed. (Arms Specific)

Retaliation: Only available in battle stance. Useful if many mobs are attacking you. Instantly counterattack any enemy that strikes you in melee for 12 sec. Melee attacks made from behind cannot be counterattacked. A maximum of 20 attacks will cause retaliation.

5.1 Arms Rotation

Contrary to many classes and specs, Arms spec does not have a rotation. It does however rely on an ability priority system, you will quickly develop a love hate relationship with it. Prioritize as follows:

Rend: Keep this up 100% of the time.
Taste For Blood (Overpower): Taste for blood procs off of your rend ticks. It refreshes every 6 seconds of Rend. Use Overpower within the 6 seconds of its initial proc so as not to waste it.
Sudden Death
Mortal Strike
Slam
Heroic Strike: Use only if Rage>75

*note 1: Boss health < 20% Priority changes to: Rend, Taste For Blood (Overpower), Execute
note 2: Bladestorm should always be kept on cooldown in single target fights. Use immediately after you use your first Taste for Blood proc to maximize dps. Do not use Bladestorm if there is less than 6 seconds left on Rend.*
note 3: In aoe situations change Heroic strike to Cleave, rage condition still applies. Use Sweeping strikes after initial Rend in aoe situations then continue normal priority system. Introduce Thunderclap after initial Rend then keep on cooldown if using Incite build.

Standard fights will look something like Rend, MS, Slam, OP, MS, Slam, Slam, OP, MS, Slam, Slam, OP, MS, Slam, OP Rend
(Bladestorm replaces 2nd MS on initial pull, Sudden Death procs replace Slams and when Rage>75 continue spamming Heroic Strike till Rage<75)

Lots of practice on target dummies is required to get an hang of this spec. Do not be discouraged at its difficulty. It will become more intuitive over time. Run 5 mans to gain a better understanding of how the spec scales with movement vs stationary fights. Arms performs much better in Tank'n'Spank encounters, however a skilled Arms Warrior is able to adapt to the situation and change ability priority in order to make up for the difference.

5.2 Fury Rotation

Like Arms spec Fury does not have a set rotation. Fury ability priority is as follows

Whirlwind: Keep on Cooldown
Bloodthrist: Keep on Cooldown
Execute: Boss Health <20% Spam (ignore heroic strike/Bloodsurge)
Heroic Strike: Spam unless in AOE situation then replace with Cleave. Make sure you never find yourself Rage starved when Whirlwind or Bloodthrist come off Cooldown, this will dramatically decrease your dps performance as you will fit less abilities into the fight duration. Stop Spam when Rage intake begins to drop. (use Bloodrage, and Berserker Rage liberally to prevent such occasions)
Slam: Use Bloodsurge procs in empty GCD's

*note 1: Death Wish should be used in combination with other big cooldowns. (Ie. Recklessness/Heroism/Potion of Speed/Boss health < 20%) Use with at your own discretion. Keep in mind the 2 min cooldown of the ability, for longer fights you will be able to use it more often, in which case burning it early will allow you to gain an extra buff near the end of the fight (Think Patchwerk).

6. Warrior Gearing

Warrior performance and DPS heavily depends on the gear used. More than any other class is the warrior stat dependent. Meeting the minimum caps is the requirement for warrior gearing, ie. all setups revolve around reaching the spec specific Hit and Expertise hard/soft caps.

Refer to section 1 for Caps.

6.1 Stat priority: Armor Pen vs. Strength

Once the caps are met Warriors benefit from Strength and Armor Penetration above all other stats. While there is great debate over the benefits of Strength vs. Arms the basic theory to keep in mind is that Armor Penetration scales better the more of it you have. The benefit of stacking Strength is equal to that of stacking Arp until Arp reaches roughly 40%(Fury) or 30%(Arms), at which point Arp grants a higher dps bonus than Strength up until you are capped on Arp.

Things to keep in mind when dealing with Armor Penetration:
1. Armor penetration caps at 102.9%
2. Battle stance adds 10% armor pen is not added (shown) on the character sheet %
3. T9 Bonus's are not added (shown) on the character sheet %
4. Buffs like FF, Shattering thrown, Sunder Armor, do not factor into your character cap.
5. If you have a Trinket that grants a Armor pen buff such as GT, or MJ their buff percentage should be subtracted from 102.9% to give you your arp "soft cap" (when using a trinket do not stack armor pen past this point) Same applies for Arms (10% from Battle Stance) and the 2 piece T9 gear bonus.
6. If you do not have a trinket you can ignore the soft cap and stack arp without worry until you reach the passive cap.

Example:
Arms warrior w/ Grim Toll
102.9% - Battle Stance 10% - Grim Toll 43.73% - 6% T9 Bonus = 43.17%
Thus you could stack up to 43.17% arp from gear before becoming soft capped. Then stack strength from then on.

7. UI Setup

Warriors need to be able to utilize every GCD in order to get good dps performance. Thus if you don't have a great computer with tons of memory I suggest you don't load up on excess addons or have a whole bunch of clutter on your screen. I've suggested using a UI compilation like nUI+ in the past, but for most people you just have to find what kind of setup you like.
