Druid/Balance

Balance Druid Guide

Stats

Intellect - Increases our spell power, mana pool, crit, and mana regen. Intellect is going to be the primary stat for you to focus on.
Hit - Hit is going to be your #1 stat until the spell hit cap which is 17% (1741 rating). Hit rating will also increase your melee hit chance which will help your treants.
Spirit - Balance of Power increases your spell hit rating by 100% of your spirit rating, making Spirit equal to hit rating in value. In addition to hit, spirit will increase our out of combat mana regen.
Haste - Our favorite secondary stat, crit and mastery should be reforged into haste.
Crit
Mastery - While it is a new, fun and exciting stat, mastery is the least valuable for Balance. Reforge it off whenever you can.

Utility Spells

Mark of the Wild - Increases the friendly target's Strength, Agility, Stamina, and Intellect by 5%, and all magical resistances by 65 for one hour. This replaced Gift of the Wild and no longer requires any reagents (yay!). Also note Mark and King's no longer stack, they are the same exact buff now.
Thorns - Causes nature damage to attackers (lasts 20 seconds, 45 second cooldown). Due to the recent nerf to thorns you probably will not be using this spell very much at all as resto. You can cast thorns on a tank before a pull but be careful not to cast it while the mob is being pulled as you can get threat from casting buffs.
Innervate - Causes the target to regenerate mana equal to 20% of the casting druids maximum mana pool over 10 sec. You probably will not be using innervate very much because of our high mana regen at 80, so feel free to toss your innervates to any casters that are low on mana when your not busy.
Barksin - Reduces all damage by 20% for 12 seconds with only 1 minute cooldown. Use your barkskin often when you are taking any fairly significant damage.
Soothe - Soothes the target, dispelling all enrage effects. Bind this to a key and cast on any non-boss mob that turns big and red.
Rebirth - Our battle resurrection, it now has a 30 minute cooldown so it is very important not to waste battle rez's until called for by the raid leader. Note Rebirth is also currently bugged for some people and not letting them cast if another druid has already used it in the past 30 minutes.
Remove Corruption - Removes 1 curse and 1 poison effect from the friendly target. This is our only cleansing ability now.

Gems, Enchants, Consumables

Gems
Gem [Burning Shadowspirit Diamond] in your meta socket.
Gem [Brilliant Inferno Ruby] in all red/prismatic sockets, and in any blue/yellow socket where the bonus is worse than 20 Int (this is a good guideline--you can always use WrathCalcs to check in detail whether a socket bonus is worth it). In blue/yellow sockets where the bonus is 20 Int or better, use [Purified Demonseye] or [Reckless Ember Topaz].
Enchants
Excluding profession bonuses.
Head: 60 Int/35 crit (Guardians of Hyjal revered).
Shoulders: 50 Int/25 haste (Therazane exalted).
Back - 50 Int
Chest - 20 stats
Wrists - 50 Int
Gloves - 50 haste
Legs - 95 Int/55 Spirit ([Powerful Ghostly Spellthread])
Boots - Run speed/35 mastery
Weapon - Power Torrent
Offhand - 40 Int
Consumables
Use [Flask of the Draconic Mind] or a Cauldron of Battle. Similarly use a 90 Int food (such as [Severed Sagefish Head]) or a Seafood Feast.
The best DPS potion is [Volcanic Potion]. You want to use it during Bloodlust. When you're trying to completely maximize your DPS, remember you can click a potion just before combat starts (ask your tank to count down), and then be able to use another potion later in the fight.
