rush just knows how to play his toons well and ret paladins are very strong however I doubt they all beat hunters mages and rogues

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was inferring. If you can guarantee that both toons being compared are on equal connections, equal computers, and of equal human skill and concentration, then you could compare them one to one.

However, the chances of "all things being equal" are pretty low.

That's why I tend to shake my head at people screaming when they get nerfed or someone else gets buffed. Blizz has 11 million players' worth of data to work with. They have a MUCH better grasp of what each class and spec is capable of.
